I read this yesterday in Jennifer Rothschild’s book, Lessons I Learned in the Dark and wanted to share:
Through the years I’ve heard people talk about how much courage I must have. I’m amused by their comments. There’s a line in a popular song to the effect that underneath a warrior’s armor, you’ll find a child. Isn’t that a tender picture of someone fearlessly pursuing a life of trusting our Father? Well here’s another picture for you: Underneath this warrior’s armor you’ll find a chicken. That’s right! A grade-A, yellow-bellied, lily-livered chicken! It’s scary walking through life in the dark.
I feel that way every day. So today I want to praise the Father for allowing this chicken to parade around in warrior’s armor; armor that is strong only because it’s true strength lies within His Holy Spirit.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
