tis so sweet

The old hymn, Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus has been very special to me since we heard of Evie’s diagnosis back in July.  My dear sister-in-law and a close family friend sang a beautiful a capella version at Evie’s graveside service yesterday morning.  I remember closing my eyes and hearing their crystal clear voices, the cold wind blowing on my face; I was worshipping my Savior and feeling the sweetness of taking Him at His word.  I am forever grateful to these two women for blessing me in that way on the saddest day of my life.  I love you so much Lauren and Anna.

They also sang it later at the “after-party”.  You can listen to it here.

  1. ’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to take Him at His Word;
    Just to rest upon His promise,
    And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”
    • Refrain:
      Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
      How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
      Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
      Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
  2. Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to trust His cleansing blood;
    And in simple faith to plunge me
    ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!
  3. Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just from sin and self to cease;
    Just from Jesus simply taking
    Life and rest, and joy and peace.
  4. I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
    Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
    And I know that Thou art with me,
    Wilt be with me to the end.
